Echo in Greek mythology was a mountain nymph that fell in love with her voice. While Zeus had affairs with nymphs, Echo was “covering him” by entertaining his wife Hera. When she found out, she took away Echo’s voice and left her with the ability to repeat other voices. Photography is like an echo of reality frozen in a picture. It repeats the reality by taking it apart into visual fragments and then amplifies it into millions of pictures per second.
