Sebastian Mary Tay is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and educator with a PhD in Art History (Ragusa, Italy) and a Master of Research (Glasgow, UK). His work has been presented internationally in exhibitions and festivals including White Clouds (Singapore), Superhuman Expedition (UK), Pixel Paradise (Singapore), the 8th Singapore International Photography Festival, Glasgow Open House Arts Festival (UK), Frame & Frequency (USA), NIDA International Photography Symposium (Lithuania), and Oscillations (Singapore), as well as in multiple exhibitions at the Royal Scottish Academy.

He is a recipient of the Royal Scottish Academy Latimer Award, the Royal Glasgow Institute Prize, and the Ngee Ann Young Promising Artist Award. Tay currently teaches at Nanyang Technological University, LASALLE College of the Arts, and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Singapore, across art history, critical theory, and photographic practices.

His research examines the existential dimensions of photography within contemporary AI-driven visual culture. He is based between Singapore and Korea.
