Anni Leppälä (b.1981) lives and works in Helsinki. She studied photography at the Arts Academy at Turku University of Applied Sciences (BA) and at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki
(MA).

Her works has been exhibited internationally since 2006, including group exhibitions at Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Japan (2006), Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg in Germany (2009), Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid (2011), Les Rencontres d ́Arles in France (2012) and Scandinavia House in New York (2013).

Her recent solo exhibitions have been at the Kunstverein Schwäbisch Hall, Germany (2017), Centre d ́art Gwinzegal, Guingamp, France (2016), Photo Festival Ghent, St Peter’s Abbey, Gent, Belgium (2015), Turku Art Museum in Finland (2014), Galerie les Filles du Calvaire in Paris (2014), Purdy Hicks Gallery in London (2014) and she has exhibited her works at solo exhibitions at Gallery TaiK Persons (2016), Gallery AMA in Helsinki (2013), Barbara Gross Galerie in München (2011) and at the Gallery TH13 in Bern (2011).

In 2010, she was awarded the Finnish Young Artist of the Year art award and Tampere Art Museum presented the first comprehensive museum exhibition of her work and published a book of her photographs.

Her works are included in collections of institutes in Finland such as the Finnish Museum of Photography, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, EMMA Museum of Modern Art and international collections such as the Deutsche Bank Collection, Teutloff Collection and Fondation d’entreprise Hermès.
