Designing Artist’s Books is a 3-day workshop for artists, designers and bookmakers who are keen to explore methods and approaches in putting together and translating photographic works into book formats. With a focus on editing and graphic design as key components of the process and outcome, the workshop involves a consideration of material, construction, binding, print, layout, and the overall reading and visual experience afforded through a book’s form and materiality. Emphasis will be placed on finding and experimenting with ideas and approaches beyond those employed in conventional coffee-table photo-books, and with an economical or DIY spirit.
Participants should show a good level of interest and desire to learn about the book form.
Participants should have a project that can be implemented into a book form.
Participants should be willing to get hands-on with tools and materials in putting together a mock-up.
