Each page in the book stands on its own, containing photographs carefully selected from three years of shooting, which I printed on a more handmade feel of white transparent, soft Japanese washi paper, allowing the softness, fragility, and fickleness of the paper itself to become part of the work.

Artist Biography:
Chen Qingyang (b.1995), MFA Photography, University of the Arts London, is an independent photographer living and working in Shanghai and London. Her works have been exhibited in Photo London (2021), Auckland Festival of Photography (2021), Gwangju International Art Fair (2020), and other festivals.
Using photography as her main creative medium, her work investigates the sensory understanding of women’s expression beyond traditional gender. Based on tactile perception, she captures the relationship between movement, body and personal emotions, and uses images to respond to the subjective experience of the external world.
