Tan Pin Pin (陈彬彬) is a Singaporean artist whose thoughtful and self-reflexive practice traverses film, photography, and installation to chronicle her country’s history, memory, and representation. Her acclaimed documentary films include Singapore GaGa (2005), an exploration of local soundscapes; Invisible City (2007), a portrait of those who document Singapore; To Singapore, with Love (2013), focusing on political exiles; and In Time to Come (2017), an observation of national rituals. Alongside her films, Tan’s video installations such as 80km/h (2004) and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (2025) extend these inquiries into spatial and archival dimensions. Her photographic practice began with her early work, Another China (1992). Tan’s artworks are in the collection of the Singapore Art Museum and have been exhibited internationally at film festivals and biennales. She has also served on the boards of the Singapore International Film Festival and the National Archives of Singapore.
