The New Forest marks the beginning of The Institute of Critical Zoologists (ICZ) and SIPF’s 5 years collaboration. At the end of 5 years, the works of participants will culminate into an exhibition or a book.

The projects will be in (but not limited to) lens-based media. The New Forest will have a dedicated page on the SIPF website. This page will hold an archive of all proceedings and works from this masterclass.

Red Tape (Ernest Yeo)

If you know the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel, you know that the children dropped bread crumbs to find their way back out of the forest. But unlike the fairy tale, these tapes drew me in and cumulated into this series of photographs.

While these tapes allow for navigation and exploration into this forest located next to Ghim Moh Link and Commonwealth, their existence and symbolism are questioned by Red Tape.

Plans to expand the project

Slated for housing development. Red Tape is a topographic attempt to chronicle the existence of Dover forest, and questions the stories within as well as the broader relationship between man and nature in Singapore.
