妈妈，我到家了 (Mummy, I’m home) is a photo book that peers into an unassuming relationship between a mother and a queer son while exploring the dynamics between the two individuals. This very relationship is reduced into its most organic and natural state, mirroring a baby’s cry for love from its mother.

It reflects a fear of abandonment and uncertainty, tackling intimacy and vulnerability through revelations of one’s truest identity. The photo book attempts to explore these notions by directing the camera to the artist himself in his most vulnerable state, compelling him to discard any form of facade and allowing his true identity to surface. Adopting a sense of performance, the artist explores the relationship between his physical body and the spaces within his home. Interacting with them intimately, these spaces depicted are where the mother’s essence lingers the strongest.

This photo book is further interjected by consolidated text messages received from the artist’s mother, as well as moments of intimacy between the artist and his then-partner. The content of these text messages centre around the artist’s mother asking when he is coming home. At the same time, the supplemented images of intimacy between two men further accentuates the act of revelation and liberation of one’s identity.

妈妈，我到家了 (Mummy, I’m home) ultimately exists as a secret confession, a coming out and a call awaiting for an answer.
