BEFORE BOOM! is a still image album between photography and animation, which describes a linear story taking place in three different space-time and different dimensions in parallel. Although there is no detailed background text information in the book, we can piece together the complete narrative content with the explicit clues in three parts, as well as the background information.
The album explains three different forms of viruses as follows:

1. In the text part, it cites the incident that occurred between 2009 and 2010 when a computer virus from STUXnet maliciously attacked Iran’s nuclear testing base, symboling the basic establishment of the war path of destroying the enemy’s industry, transportation, and medical facilities through “cyber weapons”.

2. In the animation part, it directly copies the existing animation work Paprika (2006, directed by Kon Satoshi). Paprika is a anime dream detective living in Japan in 2006. In his subconscious dream space, he confronts enemies who stole DC machines and attempted to spread spiritual viruses, so as to control human spirit and thinking.

3. The majority of the image part were taken in Wuhan, Hubei from 2019 to 2022, recording the urban landscape and living environment of special groups in Wuhan. These three texts are connected together in the album, forming a brand new story through arrangement, and the countdown to the arrival of the powerful enemy is getting closer and closer.
