What is home? Is it merely a structure that shelters us, or is it a felt sense—an experience of being held, accepted and at ease?

In The Possibility of Perceiving Home, Quinn Lum invites participants to explore this question through a simple yet intimate gesture: a 30-second embrace with a loved one, friend, pet or an object that reminds them of home. The work considers whether the feeling of “home” can be sensed, shared and perhaps even transmitted between bodies.

Drawing inspiration from his shamanic practice, Quinn approaches the embrace as both a physical and energetic exchange. Participants are encouraged to notice subtle shifts within themselves, including bodily sensations, emotional responses and personal memories, and to consider how “home” might exist beyond a physical place—as a relational and internal experience.
