A visual representation of interconnected lives in different parts of the world, ‘Family Space’ bears a direct reference to her family, which also aims to elicit a sense of connectivity among her family members. Despite the sense of time, space and loneliness evoked, she also atttempts to bridge these ele- ments by capturing images that suggest familiarity, intimacy and connectedness.

About the Artist
Kalaw graduated from the Communication Arts program at De La Salle University, Manila before moving to America when she was 23. In 1995, she pursued a second Bachelors degree in Professional Photography at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. In 1998, she established her career in San Francisco. Her works explore themes of family, places and identity.
