Coordinated by Daniel Boetker-Smith, the Asia-Pacific Photobook Archive is the only dedicated library of photobooks from this region in the world.
This not-for-profit organisation doesn’t sell photobooks, it simply offers its open access 100{a8133cbed3b5ceb112c4756e5b2cfb377d9a54f3c9fce1d769a370fc6f8f1aa2} donated collection to festivals, events and photographic institutions internationally to promote the work of emerging and established Asia-Pacific photographers.
Currently the Archive has book displays in Gothenburg, Hyerabad, & Dublin. The collection has a permanent space in Melbourne and is open to the public. A small selection of obscure and unique books from the Archive will be on display at SIPF to browse. The Archive will also be taking submissions.
About the Speaker
Daniel Boetker-Smith (b.1974, Australia) is the Director of the Asia-Pacific Photobook Archive as well as the Course Director at the Photography Studies College, Melbourne.
His expertise is in photographic publishing, photobooks and zines, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region.
He regularly curates Australian and International photobook exhibitions and art events as well as write and critic for various art and photography publications.
