Crystal Sim (b. 1995, Singapore) is a mixed media artist, utilising mediums such as photography, videos and textiles to address topics in a way that words fail to. Her works often stem from personal experience with mental health. Through research and various psychological theories, she translates them into visuals. Employing a variety of mediums allows her to accurately encapsulate distressing emotions resulting in interactive and tactile works that reflects a cathartic practice. By creating works influenced from her experience, she believes and encourages that a viewer will be able to further understand such mental states of mind.
She is an advocate of mental health awareness and the importance of it.
Crystal recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Digital Imaging at the Nanyang Technological University, School of Art, Design and Media. She has participated in exhibitions at DECK, School of Art, Design and Media and PRACTICE PRACTICE.
