Yu Yu Myint Than is documentary photographer based in Yangon, Myanmar.
Previously a staff photographer at The Myanmar Times she now focuses on personal documentaries while working for Myanmar Deitta Organzaiton to develop
its photography education programs and outreach activities.
Yu Yu is also one of the founding members of Myanmar women photographers
collective “Thuma” . Her work has been exhibited locally and internationally. Her
work “Memory Lane” was featured in “We Will Have Been Young” photobook by
dienacht Publishing and another work “Jigsaw” was chosen for doc! Magazine by
Blow Up Press. She is also interested in transforming her works in photobook art as another layer of story telling. She self-published her hand-made photobook “Memory Lane” and designed some of Thuma Collective’s photobooks, such as “Bridging the Naf”, “Knots” etc.
She was Magnum Foundation’s fellow for Photography and Social Justice Program
2017. She has been working on personal stories looking at memories as well as
human-right related issues.
