Tuan’s debut book, “Castle,” delves into the personal toll of urban redevelopment, where the government seizes vast tracts of land for new projects. The narrative juxtaposes the grandeur of modern constructions with the desolation they leave behind. Through images of debris, sand dunes, and majestic edifices, Tuan portrays the struggles, transformations, and resilience that characterise the march of progress.

The book’s images, in fact, had been taken across various urban areas in the surrounding region. This story is thus not specific, but a common reflection on the current state of Vietnam’s growth.
