sing me to sleep, i love you is a visual reckoning of the self that has been lost. Informed by love and loss, grief and desire, photography is used to confront the vulnerable, fractured mind that fails to contain itself.

This photobook exists as a form of self-portraiture, a vessel of a time, and at its end: a reminder. To hold on, to let go.

Artist Biography:
Yiling (b.2000), aka. ariatays, is a visual artist and writer based in Singapore.
Working across the mediums of photography, performance and poetry, her practice examines humanness, intimacy, gender and our relationship with vulnerability. Drawing upon lived experiences and the confessional, she uses image-making and language to investigate interiority, personal narratives and our encounters with the material everyday. Her works serve as close-readings of the ways in which we live, forming entry points of understanding; materialising critical sites for reconciliation and reclamation.
She holds a BFA (Hons) in Photography and Digital Imaging at NTU’s School of Art, Design and Media, with a minor in Creative Writing from the School of Humanities. She is the winner of the Kwek Leng Joo Prize of Excellence In Photography Award 2024.
