What does Big Brother see, while he is watching? This was the key question that led Menner on a three year journey through the archives of the notorious East German secret police Stasi. Seen here is a small fraction of his findings.

Surveillance has been a widely discussed topic for many years. During this detailed research into the subject he has come to realize that the public has only very limited access to picture material showing the act of surveillance from the perspective of the surveillant.



About the Artist
Born in 1978 in Germany, Simon Menner studied at the School of the Art Institute, Chicago and Universität der Künste Berlin. He is currently a member of the German Photographic Association.
