The Aspects & Visions – Taiwan Photographers Series is a series of books edited by Chang Chao-Tang, the first local photographer series in Taiwan’s publishing history, comprising 13 volumes. 

This book is the only personal photography collection by Kao Chung-Li, featuring his explorations in photography during the 1980s, including some precious commemorative photos from his family life. The book is divided into two sections: “Flesh” and “Soul,” showcasing Kao’s deep reflections on the body and spirit. It reveals his unease and contradictions regarding the physical body and his ongoing inquiry into personal and family pursuits of faith, values, and happiness.

Artist Biography:
Kao Chung-Li, born in 1958 in Taipei, deeply explores the history and power structures of audiovisual technology through his work. By combining images, film, and audiovisual machinery, and engaging in media archaeology and self-made mechanical devices, he challenges the concept of audiovisual production. His work examines the relationship between time, images, and media, emphasizing the tension between movement and stillness in imagery. Kao’s work spans photography, film, and animation, showcasing originality, and his experimental works won seven awards in the 8mm experimental film, animation, and documentary categories of the Golden Harvest Awards consecutively from 1984 to 1988.
