Very often, we go about our lives preoccupied with our occupations, families and other matters. Sometimes, we become unconsciously oblivious and apathetic to our surroundings and people around us. For example, we have an inclination not to take notice and appreciate the work of migrant workers.
Joel Yuen takes this opportunity to highlight their usefulness and contributions to society. The images are outdoors portraits of an honest representation of the nature of their professions and experiences; the long hours of manual labour, the struggles they encounter daily and their tenacious desire to pursue a better future for themselves and their loved ones.
