Having moved there in 2006 with his girlfriend, he turned to photography to quell the overwhelming sense of isolation and loneliness in a foreign culture that seemed impenetrable. Driven by intuition and fervour to make the city his own, he sidestepped the glittering façade of the bustling metropolis for the private domain of the individual presence.
