About the Exhibition
A room with a view explores the aesthetics of disappearance through the lenses of six female artists based in Hong Kong.

Curated by Carol Chow Pui Ha, a researcher and lecturer at the School of Journalism and Communication, Chinese University of Hong Kong, the exhibition takes as its point of departure Ackbar Abbas’ text Hong Kong: Culture and the Politics of Disappearance (1997), in which he describes how buildings and spaces in Hong Kong have come to signify what no longer exists. Spanning photography, video and installation, the works capture and reconstruct vanishing identities and spaces.
