This series of self-portrait is a kind of performance without an audience, only to be photographed as a portrayal of desire rather than reality.

Recollecting her adolescent years while sitting on the edge of her apartment overlooking the cityscape, Ahn Jun grew aware of the change in her own perspective on life and death, present and future. Using space to question perspective, conflicts between illusion and reality reflects her realisation.

About the Artist
Ahn Jun is a South Korean photographer, known primarily for her Self-Portrait series of photographs taken from high rise buildings of cities.

She graduated with a degree in art history from the University of Southern California in 2006. She was introduced to photography in 2006 and studied for MFA at Pratt and Parsons. She went on to receive an MFA at Parsons in 2013 and Ph.D. in Photography in 2017 at Hongik University in Korea.

She has been trying to investigate the hidden beauty of the world beyond our perception. Throughout several project-based works, she tries to reveal the desire and hidden structure of the world which cannot be seen since it moves too fast in the world of the context.
